What we do...
We work across a range of sectors including Residential, Community, Education, and Health. The projects are located across Southern England, from London to Somerset and north to The Midlands.
Our mission is to deliver beautiful contemporary architecture, that is affordable. Great architecture doesn’t need to be dependent on large resources. It is a state of mind, demanding improved solutions, that deliver better value.
The skills we have honed through Community and Commercial projects where budgets are tightly constrained, are essential to extracting value across all projects.
Process
Each building is a bespoke response to a unique site and individual set of clients’ aspirations, goals, and dreams.
Whether a new build or an extension / refurbishment, the process to unlock the site’s potential is broadly the same. Analyse and understand the canvas.
Whether it is an open field or complex existing building in need of repair, evaluating the qualities of the spaces and seeing the potential of a site, before design work starts is crucial.
Many sketch schemes follow, presented at client workshops, where concepts are developed, tested and then reworked.
How we do it...
A great concept can be frustrated by the planning process. We develop a planning strategy alongside the concept. This increases the likelihood of success, particularly when pushing the boundaries of planning. Whether we are working with Winchester, East Hampshire, Test Valley, Bournemouth and Poole, the need to understand the local policy, increases the likelihood of success.
The additional processes within The New Forest and South Downs National Parks demand a clear and strong concept at the outset.
Good architecture isn’t just about the visual quality. It is also the experience of the spaces and the sense of place. The feel is a complex balance of form, materiality and aspect, but also the acoustic quality.
