Hurstbourne Tarrant Village Hall
New village hall with facilities designed to accommodate multiple functions
This village hall was constructed within the Conservation Area of Hurstbourne Tarrant on the site of the existing scout hut, adjacent to the village recreation field.
The intent of the building was to house the local playgroup, local interest groups and host functions with a combined sports facility. In addition to a new hall there is also a meeting room, wet craft room, kitchen and all the necessary storage to support these functions.
The building has been configured so that the main function spaces are afforded views across the playing field, whilst the changing rooms have direct access to the field. The elevation that provides these views is predominantly timber and glass with a sun canopy to ameliorate high-level sun during afternoon and evening periods.
The northwest elevation also includes high-level sunscreens, which attenuate high incidence sun light and heat gain, thus reducing the need for mechanical ventilation.
